Where our money goes!

The Hope Thrift Store has chosen two of the best Foundations in Southern California to support with the proceeds from Store Operations.  The Elizabeth Hospice Foundation and The Western Eagle Foundation are two vital parts of Escondido and both are in harmony with our efforts to serve the working poor.

Care for Everyone

When nearing the end of life’s journey, people experience a wide range of emotions which may reflect sadness, denial, anger and despair. Most are frightened, overwhelmed and unsure of what to expect or where to turn.

The Elizabeth Hospice and its team of compassionate professionals understand the feelings and emotions associated with these trying times. We achieve excellence by anticipating and providing responsive medical, emotional and spiritual support to anyone in need.

The goals of hospice are to:

  • Support self-determined life closure. Patients have full autonomy to make decisions about how the remainder of their life is spent within the allowances of law.
  • Achieve safe and comfortable dying. The patient is free of distressing symptoms in an environment that does not aggravate or hasten dying.
  • Promote effective grieving. The expression of grief eventually supports the individual’s ability to adjust to their environment without their loved one and regain the ability to invest in other activities and relationships.

In an effort to raise money to support this great cause, SDFB’s Hope Thrift Store and its tireless staff of volunteers will strive to raise support for the many great services that the EH Foundation provides to its clients.

The Western Eagle Foundation is the largest food bank and food assistance center in Southern California. We offer affordable food assistance boxes for individuals and families, and community food distribution for churches and other charitable organizations.
